Wild West shows began travelling the Eastern States as far back as the early 1800’s, and continued for around 50 years. These shows were the start of today’s Rodeos. Early shows featured great cowboys such as Bill Pickett and Buffalo Bill Cody. The early 1900’s marked the introduction of the Wild West shows overseas. The cowboys in these shows were paid performers, but it wasn’t a contest like modern rodeo.
