It was a rare ghost orchid that fascinated flora enthusiast John Lorache, the story of his plant poaching and arrest became topic of a famous book. While he is a modern day plant collector, it is a practice dating back to the 15th century, when an Egyptian Queen sent botanists to Somalia to bring back incense trees.
